Summary: (BP Revised) Policy updated to add new section on “Student Voter Registration” containing material formerly in BP 1400 – Relations Between Governmental Agencies and the Schools. Policy also reflects NEW LAW (AB 24, 2017) which establishes the State Seal of Civic Engagement to recognize high school graduates who have demonstrated excellence in civic education and participation based on criteria to be approved by the State Board of Education by January 31, 2021. Examples of activities that link civic knowledge to practical experience expanded to reflect additional concepts in the state curriculum framework.
